If there is only thing I love more than fashion, its fashion that gives back.
The HaloT is a fashionable, 100% pre-shrunk cotton tee shirt featuring a glowing image of a halo on the front - an encouraging symbol well-represented to varying degrees in the scriptures of various faiths.
Little Lamb KidzT will donate 10% of all sales to Smile Train, an organization which provides free cleft-related surgery for millions of poor children in developing countries. The HaloT tee shirt makes it possible for people who have a passion for this important cause to not only donate money but also raise awareness for it in their daily life.
From the diverse health benefits, to the increased bonding
experience or even to the advanced weight loss, there are many reasons why a
woman decides to breastfeed. Now Ameda’s “I Breastfeed Because…” campaign is giving
women a voice to share why they made the decision to breastfeed.
Ameda, a proven leader in breast pump innovation and trusted
by moms and hospitals for over 65 years, launches the “I Breastfeed Because…”
campaign to give moms a voice on this important subject in time for World
Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7. Mothers who are currently breastfeeding, or
have in the past, are encouraged to log onto www.ibreastfeedbecause.com
to upload 20-second videos that share the reasons why they chose to
breastfeed.
For each video uploaded, tweet or video comment, Ameda will
make a charitable donation to the Human Milk
Banking Association of North America, a non-profit association of donor
human milk banks established in 1985 to set standards for and to facilitate
establishment and operation of milk banks in America. All those who
participate are also automatically entered to win a grand prize of a $2,500
nursery makeover or one of 25 secondary prizes, $50 American Express gift
cards. While World Breastfeeding Week is Aug 1-7, this campaign will run
through September.
Now through
August 1st, Macy's customers can give $3 and receive a coupon for
$10 off one purchase of $50 or more at any Macy's store nationwide. Macy's will
give 100% of every $3 to RIF.
Its a great way to get a jump start on your Back to School shopping and support children's literacy at the same time!!
Due
to budget cuts and the current economic climate, many teachers and
students across the country go without even the most basic school supplies. Studies
by the non-profit organization, World Vision, show that teachers spend
on average at least $500 of their own money each school year on
supplies for their students.
My sister is a teacher in an inner city school and I remember her Christmas list being 80% things for her classroom and students. Even my sister-in-law who works in an upper class, award winning school district spends loads of money on school supplies every year.
Well, Avery Dennison is setting out to alleviate some of this financial burden, as well as pamper a few lucky teachers.
Avery Dennison will be giving away a grand prize package valued at $1,000 to one teacher through the sweepstakes hosted at: www.avery.com/teachersweeps.
Teachers are encouraged to submit as many entries as they would like
(up to one a day) between now and September 15, 2010, and also will be
eligible to win additional second and third place prizes. Prize
packages include an array of Avery-brand school supply products, Spa
Finder gift cards and/or Starbucks gift cards.
Avery Dennison has a
long-history of supporting education. This announcement comes on the
heels of its parent, Avery Dennison Corporation, launching the Give Back to Schools program in late June. Created as a way to give back to the communities that have made the company's success possible in its 75th anniversary year, Give Back to Schools
will provide 10 deserving U.S. schools with a truck-load of Avery-brand
school supplies, valued at approximately $10,000 each. For Official
Rules and to enter to win, students, families and supporters (ages 18
and older) can vote for their local K-8 school now through August 31 at
http://www.AveryDennisonGiveBacktoSchools.com.
Hoops of Hope All-Stars Saturday, July 31st, from 10 am to 10 pm, at the King of Prussia Mall
The
event is aiming to raise over $200,000 to benefit AIDS orphans and
their communities in Africa. The event will bring together over 1,200
shooters, attempting over 600,000 free throws – each shot helping
transform the life of an AIDS orphan.
This effort was first
started by a nine-year-old, Austin Gutwein, who was moved to action
after seeing a video by World Vision, a humanitarian relief
organization, about a girl from Zambia who lost both her parents to
AIDS. Austin garnered sponsors that would pay $1 for each shot he made.
Austin shot 2,057 free throws, one for every child orphaned from AIDS
during an average school day. Hoops of Hope event has since raised over
$1.8 million to build a school, medical clinic, water system and two
orphan hope centers in Zambia.

At a recent blogging event I won a Zoku Quick Pop Maker. We love popsicles in our house and in our effort to eat less processed foods, I was so excited to try making our own out of fresh fruits and juices!
What they say:
Makes up to nine 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" pops (three 2-oz. pops at a time) before refreezing is required.
Nonstick cast-aluminum molds have a proprietary solution sealed inside their bases to enable rapid, uniform freezing.
A specially designed tool helps to quickly release the frozen treats from their molds.
Durable, reusable plastic pop sticks have unique ridged designs that allow pops to adhere securely.
Special drip guards promote tidy eating.
Includes base, remover tool, six reusable pop sticks and six reusable drip guards.
What I say:
It is so easy to use! And it really, actually does work really quickly. Its hard to believe, but it does! Promise! I love how easy it is to clean as well. (Believe me, if it wasn't it would be out the door!) It such a great tool for making healthy, summer treats for our family. If you are trying to eat healthy and naturally, this would be a great product for you! Just the other day, we mixed up fresh strawberries, a bit of water and sugar and they were FABULOUS!

I can't tell you how many times I've walked past the Ronald McDonald house in West Philly, near Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We've had several friends who have had children go through major surgeries or have had babies in the NICU for months and its always been a comfort to me to know there is a resource like Ronald McDonald Houses available for people who don't live nearby this top children's hospital.
My kids have seen the house and we've told the about it and they LOVE to drop change into the Ronald McDonald House Charities jars whenever we go to McDonalds to "help the kids who are sick in the hosbidal." These houses provide an amazing service to families, serving as a home away from home, so that they may be together as they suffer the agony of sick or injured children.
Here in Philadelphia, Ronald McDonald House Charities will be holding a fundraising phone bank event LIVE during commercial breaks on CBS 3 from 3pm-8pm on March 9th. Be sure to tune in and give your support to this amazing organization!
