Last week, I met some of my favorite local bloggers at the new Seasons 52 restaurant in King of Prussia hosted by Best Buy.
I've been wanting to try Seasons 52 since it opened, but haven't had the chance. The restaurant was gorgeous and the staff was wonderful. I was blown away by the food: The entire menu changes weekly, based on what is fresh and in season. They don't use butter (only olive oil) and there isn't a deep fryer in the restaurant. Talk about refreshing! They even promise that nothing on their menus is more than 475 calories.
My FAVORITE was dessert. I can never decide what dessert to get (because I love dessert) so I think they invented their Mini Indulgences just for me! There's a variety of desserts served in very small portions so you can enjoy a few things without going overboard. Here's the picture from the website:
YUM, right? I think I have a new favorite restaurant. I can't wait to go back for girls night out or a date night!
The event was sponsored by Best Buy,
and they shared with us a little bit about their company and their work
in the community. I have to say, I was very impressed. Yes,
They specifically wanted us to know about their desire to support young teens. They currently have two philanthropy projects — a program about giving a voice to teens called @15, and a tech training program for teens girls called Geek Squad Summer Academy. I loved hearing from a female store manager about her passion for mentoring women in her store!
Personally, I love seeing a company that clearly cares about making a difference in the world, takes care of its employees and - in turn - has employees who are passionate about what they do. That's a better advertisement than the one in the newspaper! I'm much more inclined to give a company I trust my business. I love how knowledgeable the employees are - I'm computer shopping, so I was in heaven asking all sorts of questions about what I should get!
I once again brought my camera and was so busy chatting to my PSMM gals and the fabulous
Special thanks to the fabulous ladies at Just Centsible Consulting, Best Buy, and Seasons 52 for a lovely evening!

This past Thursday, I joined some of my favorite Philly bloggers - and a few new friends from Mom Central - at Morimotos in Philly.
For
once, Sarah, Jo-Lynne and I arrived early with no drama. We tend to
have unplanned adventures when we travel together, which generally end
with us arriving late for things ;-)
So the evening was off to a good start! We even had time to snap a picture outside Morimotos:
We walked up to the cozy, upstairs lounge and first up was to try some Aquafina FlavorSplash!
There were six flavors: Lemon, Grape, Mixed Berry, Strawberry Kiwi,
Peach Mango, and Raspberry. I wasn't a fan of the grape (I don't like
grape drinks) or the lemon, but I loved the Peach Mango and the Berry. YUMMY! And look how cute the tasting display was:
How fun is that?!! Then came the food.
Oh. My. Word!
I'm
not a huge sushi connoisseur, but this was amazing. The lobster
appetizer was out of this world and so were the dumplings. And then I
hit the sushi hard!! It was hands out the best sushi I've ever had. We
all had a great time eating the fantastic food, hanging out and
catching up face to face.
Then we made an important discovery: the Lychee Cosmopolitan. I would like to make a motion to make that the official cocktail of the Philly Social Media Moms. Oh, does Mom Central and Aquafina FlavorSplash know moms. Giving us a Mom's Night Out what the doctor ordered!! Thanks so much for the party, Ladies!!
Look at this great crew:
Front Row: Sarah, Heather, Mel, Jo-Lynne, Beth, Elizabeth;
Back Row: Holly, Teresa, Shannon, Debbie, Michelle, Sarah, and ME!

Last night I took the girls to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus' Funundrum show, now playing at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia! We had so much fun!!
Now one of the coolest features of the circus is the all-access preshow that is included with every ticket. You can see clowns and magic tricks, meet performers and get autographs and get up close with some of the animals. The kids had so much fun -- they were sad when we had to go back to our seats so the show could start! (They had no idea that things had only just begun!)
The show began and the kids were riveted - I don't think they even blinked! Between the elephants and horses and acrobats and trapeze artists and motorcycles and music and clowns... it was everything a circus is supposed to be!
My kids both are crazy about animals, so they loved any act that involved animals in any way (the tigers! the elephants!). They were absolutely hysterical at their antics and Ellie was hiding her face when the tiger tamer was working his magic! But they were SO impressed with the motorcycle cage -- Gracie was seriously worried about them! It was so cute.
We hadn't even pulled out of the parking lot when they were asking when we could go again! If you're in Philly, go check this show out! Thanks to Mom Central, you can purchase a 4 pack of tickets for only $44 on a weekday (or $4 off weekend tickets) by logging onto http://www.comcasttix.com and entering the coupon code: MOM. (Seriously, for the cost of a MOVIE you can go see the circus!! SUCH a bargain!!) And - just so you know - this is an AMAZING deal, so take advantage!
If you do go, a few pointers:

Thursday morning, all of us moms were up bright and early to catch the bus to Epcot for breakfast. I met some fabulous '
Then came one of the highlights:
And, boy, was the audience surprised when Ty Pennington from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition made an appearance and had the audience to shout with him “move those balloons!” to reveal the world’s largest canned food sculpture–more than 115,000 cans. (Later that day there was a volunteer event to dismantle the sculpture and pack the canned food into boxes for distribution to food shelters.) Can you believe I forgot my camera for this morning? Of all mornings! Like I'm going to run into Ty Pennington again someday. UGH!!
After the presentation, my family and I headed over to the Princess Storybook Dining at Norway's Akershus. We've never been to any character meal at Disney and it was everything I'd heard! This was the highlight of the trip for Gracie, so for me it was worth every penny. We met Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Ariel, Belle and
I was worried the kids wouldn't really enjoy Epcot after our day at Magic Kingdom, but they had a blast. Disney has done a great job of providing fun activities throughout the park. They loved walking through World Showcase (where we saw tons of characters:
Later that evening, we were treated to yet another surprise: an amazing dinner prepared by Chef Robert Irvine and his crew from Food Network's Dinner Impossible. Thursday night’s event was held outside and it
was cold, but Disney staff was handing out hand warmers and had outdoor heaters to help kept us warm. We parked ourselves next to a heater at a table with Mandy's adorable family and enjoyed the food that was inspired by the Disney Princesses! I loved the seafood shepherd’s pie while Gracie and Colin inhaled the chicken lo mein: I can’t wait to see the show when it airs on Food Network in the spring!
After dinner we were treated to a concert by
a new band, Allstar Weekend (winners of Disney’s Next Big Thing contest), then Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato took the stage. The concert ended with a fabulous fireworks display. This was my girls first concert experience and they were totally into it! They were waving their glow sticks and dancing around with their arms in the air... they were so cute they even got up on the big screen :-) It was a fantastic night and a terrific party. Disney pulled out all the stops to honor the volunteers!

Wednesday morning we were woken up bright and early at the Embassy Suites Orlando Airport by three extremely excited little people! We headed downstairs for breakfast, where we ran into Janine and her adorable twin girls who were so sweet. What a great way to start our
We were dropped off at the Polynesian Resort, checked in (and met Christy - such a sweetie!) and went to pick up my conference packet (and a sweet bag of goodies!) and immediately headed out to the Magic Kingdom! We spent a fabulous day at the Magic Kingdom, taking full advantage of the media fast pass that was in our packet! It would be hard to pick a single highlight, but a few included:
We returned to our hotel around 4:30 get ready for night's festivities! At 5:00 we caught the bus to ESPN Wide World of Sports. This morning we were thrilled to get a special preview of the brand new “Exploring Trees Inside Out” exhibit opening this Saturday, January 23 at the Please Touch Museum! It was a huge hit with Grace (age 5) and Colin (age 1). By far their favorite part of the exhibit was the huge tree that they were climbing around in and Dancing with Trees. Colin spent most of his time trying to figure out how he and Grace were on TV while Gracie had great fun pretending to be a ladybug or a cardinal:
Gracie really enjoyed the more educational exhibits that were a little old for Colin. She built a birds nest, smelling the scents of various trees and hearing the sounds of the forest. She said her favorite parts were dancing on the tv and looking through the microscope.
The exhibit is at the museum until May 2, 2010 and is sponsored by Doubletree Hotels and the Arbor Day Foundation. If you're planning on visiting the Please Touch Museum this year, make sure you go before May so you can catch this terrific addition to the Please Touch's amazing permanent exhibits!
disclosure: we received complimentary tickets to the please touch museum. i was not compensated financially for this post.Posted at 03:38 PM in babies/kids, events, travel | Permalink | Comments (0) | TrackBack (0)
